Riverton Fishery 26/08/12

Yesterday saw me back at riverton fishery for a few hours on the pellet wag. I decided to fish from peg 14 as I never fished this area before and when I sat on the peg I had around 20-25m to the island. Out came my Garbolino 11'6 commercial rods and I set them up with 2 reactorite 2000 reels. These were loaded with 6lb maxima.

With it only being a short cast to the island I decided to use a 4aaa wag on both rods. One would be set at around 12 inches deep and the other I had set at around 6 inches for when the fish backed off abit. Bait for the session would be 6mm Dynamite xl pellets and i would use the same on the hook via a mosella micro bait band.

I started by pinging 4 pellets out towards the island and then cast out over the top, nothing within 30 seconds so I fed again, reeled in and cast again, this time the float didn't even have chance to settle and I was into my first fish. After a little scrap I scooped the net under a nice little mirror of about 1lb.

Again I re fed and cast out, another bite straight away and another small mirror was in the net. Again I re fed and cast out but this time I wasn't greeted with a bit. 30secs later the float shot under and I latched into a beast, this fish did not want to come in and took me up and down the island afew times before I finally got it to the net. I scooped the net under the fish and lifted it from the water, what a fish, a common of about 11lb was looking back up at me.

Again I re fed and cast out and again the float shot under. This was to carry on for the rest of the afternoon and when I weighed my catch after 4hours I had 76lb of carp and I thoroughly enjoyed every minute of it.

I can't wait to return and put it to the test in a match.
