Frobury Farm Open 13 Feb 2011

After travelling to the venue for today's match with Lee "Nobby" Noble we were both feeling very confident, Until we saw the lake we were fishing. To say it was small would be an understatement as from every peg you could reach the far side with 14.5m, and as this was to be used for the supercup and be pegged on both banks, it seemed as if it would be terrible.

At the draw I pulled peg 4 from the bag which gave me a peg with the most fish able room on the lake as I had a bowl in front of me which was about 20m in diameter and with only 1 other peg on this bowl i thought my chances of some fish would be quite high.

I decided to fish 3 swims and set up 4 rigs to cover these, at the all in I cupped a large ball of Got Green Grub on my 8m line and proceeded to cup about 100 Atomic pellets onto another line at 1o'clock also at 8m. My main swim for the day (or so I thought) would be at 5m where I would target the resident Rudd, on this line i fed about 10 maggots every min or so.

After fishing the Rudd line for about 10mins with not a bite i decided to try the GB line, a Rudd first put in and then another, and another.
I then re fed the GB line and let it rest while I tried the pellet line, after about 5 mins my float buried and i landed a carp of about 10oz, then nothing so again I re fed and went back over the GB line and started to put a run of carp together, until the lake just died.

After a lot of hard work, adjusting shotting patterns and feeding I managed to get the carp going again and managed to land a further 18 small carp in the last 60mins, at the scales I put 26lb 9oz in the bag which I learned was enough for 3rd place. Not a bad way to introduce myself to the MFS lads.
